GASHEAD NEWS
4/19/06
The anticpated release of GasHead's first full-length vocal
album, "The Isolationist" is set for August of 2007.
The CD will feature the 3 vocal cuts from the James Brennan
performed Juarez single, "Juarez", "Aggressors",
and Testament's "New Order/Disciples of the Watch".
The rest of the CD will feature GasHead vocalist Josh Purdy
on originals "Dissolve", "Ones and Zeros",
"Summer of Man's Best Friend", "Speak and Divide",
and on the covers of Grip, Inc 's "Ostracized" and
a bonus rehersal cut of Testament's "The Preacher".
The release also includes the last performances from long
time guitarist Derek Maness, whom we parted with earlier this
year. We are confident that this disc will set the bar high
for Colorado metal and push GasHead further in the local scene
in strides, not steps. CD release shows will follow with new
merchandise to accompany the music.
For those of you who are fans of the instrumental stuff, at
least of full EP of material sits on the sidelines for now,
but will emerge in time. That is part of our history and future
as well.

We'd like to announce that vocalist, Josh Purdy has joined
GasHead as a permanent member. We've been extremely encouraged
by our efforts to write vocal material and we want to throw
more energy in that direction. I know I speak for Derek and
Nate, when I say that we are impressed with Josh's enthusiasm
and energy and he'll pick up where the Juarez CD left off
and do it justice. Josh had a chance to get thrown into the
fire at the Larimer Lounge last month when we called him up
to do an encore of "The Preacher", by Testament.
That was the funnest part of the show and I think we all kinda
knew at that point. So far, in addition to the Juarez material,
we've added "The Preacher", "Ostracized"
by Grip, Inc. and a new original called "Suspended Animation"
to the mix. Can't wait to play out again. Late April looks
like a sure thing to get out again.

Some of you have postulated that GasHead with vocals might
sound cool. On Feb 18th, you'll find just how understated
the word cool is. We will be releasing a maxi-single CD, called
"Juarez", that features the incredible vocals of
Kronow's James Brennan and some pretty damn great music and
lyrics by the trio you know as GasHead. Just wait till you
hear the song "Juarez". It may be THE metal song
of 2006! Want more? There's a heavy ditty called "Aggressors"
that will de-bone an ox and a white-hot tribute to thrash
kings Testament! We brought it LARGE! Come and get it.

Two months in and the response to "Knuckles Avec Sombreros"
has been nothing but ultra positive. We've got our first review
on the CD posted and it's a surprisingly great critique from
a hard to please Westword, so check that out.
Besides looking for a permanent bass player and playing more
frequently live, we've got a couple of interesting projects
for this year. First off is the release of a limited run DVD
called "Powdered Wigs And Jockstraps". It's about
29 minutes of goofing and live clips. Check our merch site
www.Bitter-Rivals.com for availability any day now. Secondly,
we're working on what is tentatively a maxi-single called
"Fists Of Fury". It will contain, at the very least,
a new instrumental , a vocal cover of Ratt's "I'm Insane"
featuring Rail from Dead Heaven Cowboys, and a vocal cover
of Testament's "New Order/Disciples Of The Watch"
featuring James from Kronow. As we add more material, which
we always seem to do, we'll let you know. There is no anticipated
release date for this project as the funds will have to be
saved along the way, but we do have a nice start on the recording.
Out for now....

"Knuckles Avec Sombreros" is done and being manufactured
at the plant as we speak! It turned out awesome and exceeded
some expectations. We should have the disc in hand around
the 3rd week of this month and we'll have it for pre-order
in about a week, so check the merch site. You can get the
disc for only $10 instead of $12 if you come down to the Cricket
On The Hill show on March 4th. It is a very special benefit
show for Foothill Gateway and features a powerhouse lineup
with Soma, Wanker, GasHead, and the almighty Dead Heaven Cowboys.
GasHead - LandSpeedRecord . Instrumental rock guitar and it's
fabulous stuff. With electric guitar from Mike Lopez and guest
appearence from Fourth Estate's Dave Beegle, this is a surging
ride through rock guitar greatness, including a roaring cover
of the Scorpions "Coast to Coast". If you are into
rock guitar, then this is simply stunning stuff and one of
the best of it's kind in a while.
Now
for a little CD rundown....

Thought we'd update you on the CD progress. Basically, we
have 1 good long day of overdubbing some solos and we are
ready to mix and master. The art work is about 80% done as
well. If we can get this thing sent off for manufacturing
by early january, we should have the crushing "Knuckles
Avec Sombreros" for February. We've been talking about
possible track listing all along and now that things are basically
finalized, several songs will be omitted and others have been
added. The newest stuff has just been too awesome to keep
off. Those other ideas and completed tracks will sit in the
vault for further use.
If you
caught the Halloween launch of FIST
Music at the Soiled Dove, then you know how sweet this
label is going to be. We were very impressed by the stage
command that the other FISTers showed. My highlight would
have to be Drug Under leading off with a killer "Over
The Mountain". Excellent !
Keep tunned
in for CD launch and shows for the new year.... |
